Why List Building Is Important
If you are still not sure why list building is important to your business, we need to talk. When someone asks me why list building is important, I ask them, “Do you want your business to grow?”. If the answer is “yes” (and it should be), then I tell them they need to be focused on list building. Let’s take a look at a few examples:
The singer that wants to let her fans know where she’ll be and how to find her can send an email to her list.
The t-shirt vendor that wants to let customers and prospects know about new designs or specials can send out a broadcast to their list.
The sales team leader that is working on reaching a new sales goal can send out a newsletter to motivate their team and bring in new sales.
The retail outlet that wants to do a quick sales promotion can send their offer out and generate quick repeat sales.
The online store that wants to boost sales can send out a quick offer to win back previous customers and boost sales volume.
These are just a few examples of why list building is important for growing your business. When you build your list, you are effectively building your own online version of an ATM machine. A well built and well managed list can have you generating sales volume with a few clicks of your mouse.
Your emails can be simple or complex. Sometimes, simple just works better. The key is to build a list of prospects interested in your offer. If you are serious about list building, you should have a capture page set up and/or capture form code set up on your blog or web site. You should be driving traffic to that capture form so that people have an opportunity to request information about your products, services, or opportunity. Be sure you have followup message ready to go so your autoresponder can send your messages out.
Make no mistake about it. List building is important to any business that wants to grow. Makes sure you spend at least a bit of your time every day on building and managing your lists.
