I think it’s important to get some basic understanding of a few key principles I use when I am promoting TrafficWave:
I Am Not Trying to Recruit Everyone I know who my market is. I focus my energies, ads, conversations, and events on reaching out to businesses. This is a massive market. I am not spending time trying to recruit anyone ands everyone in to TrafficWave. I am focused on finding and helping people that can actually use and benefit from using TrafficWave.
Start with this: Know Your Business.
I am in the email marketing business. I have been in the email marketing business for more than 18 years. When people ask me what I do for my “day job”, or what I do for a living, I say, “I run an email marketing company. We help businesses around the world generate new leads, follow up with prospects, and drive new sales.“. When I am talking to a business owner, network marketer, affiliate marketer, they will typically say something like, “We should talk.”. If they are a regular employee with no plans for starting their own business, they usually say, “Oh, cool.” and then they move on in the conversation.
Why is this important?
If you were selling fishing gear, it would make sense to market to people interested in fishing. (People that could actually use the tools).
If you were selling tools like hammers, saws, and drills, it would make sense to market to contractors, builders, handymen, plumbers, home owners, etc… (People that could actually use the tools).
If you were selling automotive tools, it would make sense to market to auto mechanics and car owners that like to work on their own vehicles. (People that could actually use the tools).
When I run my ads, post on social media, advertise on traffic exchanges, etc… my focus is on helping entrepreneurs and businesses grow their lists, follow up with prospects, and drive sales. I focus on marketing to people that can actually use these tools.
And, this is how I get TrafficWave referrals. I look for, market to, and work with people who want to build their business with email marketing.
Someone recently asked me, “What type of business do you focus on?” My answer: “Any business that wants more customers.”
I attend regular business networking events in town. In a recent meeting, we had business owners involved in financial planning, personal insurance, health insurance, construction, copywriting, web design, computers, travel, network marketing, photography, hearing aids, chiropractic care, and music. Every single one of them are potential clients in my book. Some of them have already become clients and others are talking with me about it.
Now, what do I do if someone says, “I don’t have a business but would like to do something. What do you recommend?”. I don’t try to get them to sign up for TrafficWave (yet). I ask the what sort of business they are looking in to. I talk with them about how we can help when they are ready. If they do not yet have an idea, I offer them my free e-book: 4 Steps To Creating Cash Flow With Email Marketing. Of those I offer the free e-book:
1. Most will not download the ebook.
2. Of those who do, most will not read it.
3. Of those who do, most will not take action.
4. Some will take action.
That last group is someone I might be able to work with. I say “might” because it is yet to be determined whether they will follow through and do the things I am going to teach them.
A big mistake I see new Affiliates make is that they focus so much on getting “sign ups” that they don’t spend any time adding value and showing businesses how these powerful tools can help grow their business.
I want encourage you to focus more on showing business owners, entrepreneurs, entertainers, etc… how these tools can be used to generate leads, follow up, and drive more sales. When you do, I believe you will see yourself gaining more high quality TrafficWave referrals.

help enough other people get what they want.”
