Building A Responsive List
Building a responsive list is critical to your email marketing success. Get this step right and it is easy to drive new and repeat sales.
Email Marketing is labeled as a killer method when it comes to effective profitable Internet marketing endeavors. In addition to being profitable, email marketing is easy to learn and works very quickly. It’s a great way to stay in touch with your customers and prospects, send out invitations, make special offers, send out updates, and more.
Understand that email marketing is not about blasting your offer to anyone and everyone. The key is building a responsive list of people that WANT your information and are looking for you to help them solve a problem. If you are buying lists, blasting emails out to anyone and everyone, you are spamming. This is NOT email marketing.
Let’s look at some of the ways you can make sure you are building a responsive list:
1. Don’t Spam
Become diligent about not being a spammer. We know it sounds obvious but we are still amazed at the people we see blasting out scammy spammy messages and calling it “email marketing.” If you have an existing relationship with someone who has purchase your products or services … or you have someone that has asked you for more information, then it makes sense that you can email them your information.
Beyond those groups, you will want to make sure you have actual permission to send your information. The most efficient, legally compliant, and effective way to do this is via double opt-in. This is a method that allows the recipient to confirm that they actually want your information. This helps you avoid being confused with spammers and builds your credibility.
2. Be Relevant
When someone joins your list, they are looking for something. Your offer to send them information touched them on a level that made them want to give you their name and email address. You’ve begun building a responsive list. The next step is to make sure they are getting what you offered. Keep your content relevant to providing a solution. Make your content stand out by personalizing the subject line and the message content.
3. Keep It Real.
Make sure your offer gives genuine value to your recipients. Don’t over exaggerate claims. Don’t make income claims. Do share real success stories and experiences. You want to establish yourself as a credible resource that your readers can trust.
Building a responsive list that buys doesn’t have to be complicated. Your advertising and promotional goals are to get your offers in front of as many eyeballs as possible. As you do this, some will decide they want to learn more about your and your offer. Nurture that relationship. Provide value. Build rapport. The end result is that you will drive sales and your business will grow.
