Email Marketing Mindset: Email Marketing Is Sorting
The trap new email marketers fall into is believing every person that gets on your list is a customer. They may be a customer at some point, but at the beginning, they joined your list to see what you can offer them. You are being given an opportunity and invitation to build rapport. That new subscriber is asking you, “How can you help me?”. Your email marketing mindset needs to be, “Thank you for the opportunity. Let me help you understand how what I offer can help you achieve your goals.”
Recognize that some are going to leave your list. Some are going to take action quickly. Others will need some time. This is all part of the sorting process. We’ve had folks that took us up on our offer within the first message. We’ve had others that took years to make a final decision. Your experience will most likely be similar.
Email Marketing Mindset: Respect Your Subscribers
They asked to be on your list. They invited you in to their inbox. Respect them by providing the information you offered and keep your messages focused on how you can help them win by choosing you to do business with.
Email marketing, when done properly, can have a huge impact on your business. Be professional. Treat your subscribers with respect. Add value through your content and be available to answer questions and provide real solutions.
