Search Engine Optimization is a big step. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a process of optimizing your website to get organic (free) traffic. I work to drive traffic to my sites by creating new and relevant content that I believe my readers would like to see. On this site, I create content about email marketing and show readers how to make the most of email marketing. Chances are pretty good that you clicked a link to get here and read this article. That’s SEO in action.
Any blog I manage gets a solid focus on good SEO practices.
Sign Up Forms are absolutely critical to the way I grow my email list. Any time someone clicks a link to review my content, that article includes a sign up form they can fill out to request more information. All of my sign up forms are connected to my TrafficWave account. When someone fills out the form, they are added to my database and my autoresponder begins following up with them on a regular basis. This brings me to my next step:
Automated Email Followup When someone fills out one of my forms, they are asking for more information. My autoresponder begins to send that information every few days. I focus my content on providing solutions, tips, etc… such as the email marketing tips we have on this site. By doing this, I am able to build rapport with my readers and let them see that I can actually help them solve a problem and get results.
Reviewing Analytics is a big step in the process beyond just growing my email list. By checking my open rates and click through rates, I can see how my campaigns are doing and make adjustments along the way. If a message isn’t being opened, it isn’t being read and I am missing an opportunity. Constant review and tweaking is critical to my email marketing success.
Expanding My Reach is absolutely critical to helping me grow my email list. When I create content, I make a point of posting it on my various social media channels. I run promotions and advertising. I participate in discussion groups and comment on blogs related to my market. I also make a point of sharing my content with existing subscribers. When they see content they like, they can share it with others and this expands my reach even further.
