Simple Solid Ways To Grow Your Email Marketing Lists
Why grow your email marketing lists? “The Profit Is In The List” … We hear it all the time. We read it all the time. We know it’s true. The key to success with email marketing is to effectively build and manage your lists. One of the most common questions we receive here at TrafficWave.net is, “How Do I Build My Lists?”. Another popular question is about using rented, purchased, scraped, or harvested email lists. A lot of folks when they are starting out think building a real list of targeted subscribers is a waste of time. Time for a bit of a reality check. The time you spend on building a real list of actual subscribers is quite possibly the most profitable time you can spend in your business.
There simply are no shortcuts to growing a loyal base of subscribers that actually WANT your information. Using purchased or harvested lists will not only tarnish your reputation but will most likely also get you banned by your Email Service Provider (ESP). So let’s look at a few ways you can grow your email marketing lists with real humans that actually WANT to hear from you.
1) Offer Some Real Value
Nobody is running around looking at web sites so that they can give their contact info away. You need to offer something of real value to your visitors. What can they expect in exchange for giving you their contact information? Whether you offer some sort of discount, exclusive pricing offers, advance access, how-to tips, advice, reports, or whatever it may be … make sure that the value is VERY clear so that when people visit your site, blog, or capture page, they know EXACTLY what you are offering.
2) Make Sure Visitors Know How To Subscribe!
Think of building your list as asking for that first date. You need your visitor’s permission to email them. You want to be sure they know WHAT they are getting and HOW to get it.
This is where the subscription form (or opt-in form) is very important. When someone fills out that form, it is their way of saying, “I want to hear from you. Show me what you’ve got”. This is their first demonstration of trusting you and your first opportunity to begin building a relationship.
Make sure your optin form is easy to find and easy to fill in. Give visitors the opportunity to sign up nearly any place you possibly can. For example:
On Your Web Site – Make sure you have your opt-in form on as many relevant pages as possible in your web site. . Some of the best places are on your home page, your contact us page, your pricing page, a link in your footer, product description pages, etc… These are all great places because they are typically the pages your visitors are most likely to see.
On Your Blog – If you are blogging, this is naturally a great place to capture readers and them in on to subscribers. Be sure your opt-in form is clearly visible and easy to access.
Social Media – Make a habit of sharing the link to your opt-in form or capture page on your social media channels on a weekly basis.
Is Email Marketing Hard? Not if you consistently apply some simple tactics.
